This research proposal is an analysis of the meanings and symbols that emerge from the world of drug trafficking at the US/Mexico border. In a general sense, it is inscribed within the field of cultural studies, and particularly within gender studies. My intention is to explore the gendered meanings that construct the feminine subject within the space of the narco-culture. Specifically, I want to address the construction of the 'buchona', a female representation associated with the world of drug trafficking.
