Competence aims:

  • ability to handle indigenous language systems in Latin America whose grammar and structure can deviate substantially from a Eurocentric understanding of language
  • Ability to use the learned language for empirical research
  • focus on the grammar and vocabulary of indigenous languages passed down under colonial circumstances and/or recent indigenous languages
  • work with texts and other media
  • mastery of the accent
  • insight into cultural processes and practices that are expressed via language, written text and linguistic behavior
