PhD project:

Sexualised Violence between Silence and Enunciation. Representations of Sexualised Violence against Women in Latin America and South Africa

This research project is set in the field of comparative literary studies and analyses selected novels published in the 21st century in Latin America and South Africa.

It focuses on representations of sexualised violence against women and the resulting traumas the female protagonists experience. The project's objective is to contribute to the current international discussion on postcolonial trauma theories, and add an explicit gender perspective. Furthermore, and parting from the assumption that the female characters who suffer sexualised violence are doomed to remain in silence, this project seeks to examine the functions, reasons and relevance of this silence.
