I am writing from Responde, an Argentine NGO which works for the recuperation and rejuvenation of small rural communities which are at risk of disappearing due to depopulation. Our work is an internationally recognised response to increasing levels of poverty in large urban centres, the degradation of the environment and the loss of cultural and historical heritage.
On the 5th of December, the International Day of the Volunteer, we officially launched our international volunteering scheme Revival. With the Revival Programme, Responde offers a unique volunteering experience not at all representative of the increasingly more globalised images of life in Latin America. The mere exposure to the communities with which Responde works is an extraordinarily enriching and eye-opening experience.
We would like to offer our programme to your Latin American studies/year abroad students to realise part of their year abroad in one or various of our projects and locations. Our scheme may also be of interest to Spanish Language students that may want to participate in such a scheme during vacation time.
Volunteers are needed for teaching, agricultural work, construction and various community projects. We offer placements in eight different villages across Argentina. Posts are also available in the Responde headquaters which are based in the city of Buenos Aires.
