Research on Memory

Social and political change has fundamentally altered historical political discourses in Latin America. By the 1980s at the latest, the historiography of major national myths and narratives had been permanently called into question by social and political fractures during and after the military dictatorships in many Latin American countries. Efforts to reappraise experiences of violence require the re-evaluation of historical narratives and symbolic policies.
