Institut für Protest- und Bewegungsforschung (Ipb)

The Institute for Protest and Movement Research (ipb) aims to provide a place for social science research on protests, social movements and their interrelationship with democracy. The initiative for the institute goes back to a group of social scientists working on protests and social movements. In April 2012 we presented the 'Memorandum for the Foundation of a Social Science Institution', with which the project started. The ipb is supported by the Verein für Protest- und Bewegungsforschung e.V., whose board also acts as the institute's executive committee. The ipb sees itself as a network institute that brings together research colleagues from the German-speaking world. It conducts studies and research projects independently or in cooperation with universities and non-university research institutions and makes the results of its research publicly available.
