The habilitation project (post-PhD) is about the Mexican migrant political participation and the political dimensions of their trans-national relations. The project questions the conditions and dynamics giving rise to public trans-national spaces and negotiations. My project is based on a micro-sociological perspective and features a case study of a group of Mexicans who migrated to Chicago, including studies of where they came from, and the development of trans-national relations. Based on this study, I will explore the relevance of current debates on political spaces, trans-national relations, and the social dimensions of trans-border governments.
