The International Research Training Group (IRTG) ‘Temporalities of the Future in Latin America: Dynamics of Aspiration and Anticipation’ is located at the Institute for Latin American Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin. It offers highly qualified young researchers outstanding study and research facilities. The IRTG offers a joint research and study programme in cooperation with Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Universität Potsdam, El Colegio de México, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social in Mexico City.

The Berlin-Potsdam region is internationally renowned for its research and network on Latin American Studies. The IRTG’s institutional link to the Dahlem Research School of Freie Universität Berlin provides further opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange. Our Mexican partners are among the country’s leading research institutions and have produced cutting-edge research in their respective fields.

The close cooperation with Mexican partner institutions allows for a combination of diverse perspectives on studies on temporalities and fosters both empirical research and theoretical discussion.
