Researchers Going Abroad

Freie Universität Berlin funds and supports scholar exchange. High standards of research and education are being maintained and secured thanks to the 130 worldwide university partnerships.

Numerous exchange agreements make research stays abroad for scholars possible. Specific individual projects are also funded, as well as exchange programs which are valid at all university departments (Fachbereiche).

ERASMUS+ weltweit  Teaching assignments in Latin America

Since the academic term 2015/2016, there is a possibility to spend a teaching period of one to two weeks at a non-EU partner institution within the framework of the new Erasmus+ weltweit- program. By taking over a teaching assignment, guest lecturers are supposed to reinforce the international dimension of the host university, complement the range of courses, and provide knowledge to students who are not able or do not want to study abroad.

Normally, the teaching assignments imply at least 8 teaching hours per week. Since Erasmus+-funded assignments cover up to two weeks of stay (5 or 12 days respectively, plus two funded days of travel), 8 or 16 hours of class must be taught.

For Erasmus+-funded teaching assignments, there are ten available vacancies in six countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico):

  • Universidad de Buenos Aires
  • Universidad Nacional de Córdoba

  • Universidade de Brasília
  • Universidade Estadual de Campinas
  • Universidade de São Paulo (one vacancy; project ending in July 2018)

  • Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

  • Pontificia Universidad Javeriana
  • Universidad de los Andes
  • Universidad Nacional de Colombia

  • Universidad de Cuenca

  • Universidad Nacional Autónoma
  • El Colégio de México

*At the Universidad de Buenos Aires, solely the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras is participating in the program. This includes the following subjects: Fine Arts, Library Science, Anthropology, Educational Science, Textual Science, Philosophy, Geography, History and Humanities.

In this regard, please hand in following documents:

  • Supervision confirmation of a professor at the host university;
  • Mobility Agreement (Teaching) (incl. all three required signatures);
  • CV and passport photo.
