What language entry requirements do I need to consider when applying?

As an applicant with a German university degree (lessons in German), you must provide proof of Spanish or Portuguese language skills corresponding to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The certificate must explicitly state that your language skills correspond to the completed level B2. The certificate must be available at the time of application and cannot be submitted later. The certificate should not be older than three years.

As an applicant with a foreign university degree (acquired outside Germany), you must also provide proof of Spanish or Portuguese language skills corresponding to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). In this case, the university entrance qualification (classes taught in Spanish or Portuguese) or proof of a completed Bachelor’s program of at least three years taught either in Spanish or Portuguese at a Latin American university is considered a sufficient proof of language proficiency at level B2-CEFR. In addition, proof of German language proficiency must be provided. To apply for the Master's program Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies, proof of level B2 CEFR is required. The certificate must be available at the time of application and cannot be submitted later. The certificate should not be older than three years.

Proof of English knowledge is not required for the Master in Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies.
