Module D3: Interculturality, Transculturality and Gender Relations

Competence aims:

  • comprehension of the terminology of interculturality in the context of trans and postnational representations and entanglements and corresponding theories, in particular those belonging to postcolonial studies and decoloniality
  • ability to analyze gender relations and culture practices in the social and symbolic spaces of Latin America as well as the Diaspora and to analyze phenomena in the area of interculturality and transculturality from this perspective
  • mastery of the application of categories of analysis gender as well as cultural, socio-economic and colonial difference in order to understand transcultural dynamics
  • reconstruction of transnational spheres by assessing temporal and spatial epistemic movements from a comparative perspective

Learning content:

  • discussion and review of basic theories, particularly those belonging to postcolonial studies and decoloniality, in their contribution to interculturality, transculturality and gender relations
  • reflection on gender relations in the social, cultural and symbolic sphere of Latin America
  • discussion of the connections of interculturality and transnationalism and the analysis of transcultural dynamics using the categories of gender as well as cultural, socio-economic and colonial difference in their reciprocal relationships
  • examination of the global, transnational space in view of the entanglements of forms of knowledge, practices, images and representations in cultural, religious and socio-political contexts
