The area of Ancient American Studies/Cultural and Social Anthropology of the Institute of Latin American Studies is fundamentally involved in the diverse range of courses offered in the Master Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies, especially in the study profile A "Representation and Entanglement".

In addition, the area of Ancient American Studies/Cultural and Social Anthropology regularly provides parts of the course program of the Bachelor of Social and Cultural Anthropology, which is offered by the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology of Freie Universität Berlin.

A special focus of the area is the organization of the course program for the teaching of indigenous languages spoken on the Latin American continent.
