Project: "Between then and tomorrow: envisioning our future in the face of hazard".The return to cimarronaje as a technology of resistance
This dissertation explores how marronage, as a technology of resistance, can aid in addressing political disorganization and territorial dispossession within the Black-Afroecuadorian community, especially considering ongoing environmental, social and economic crises. The research question is: How can marronage, as a technology of resistance, help us redefine and restructure our internal organization so that, as Black-Afroecuadorian people, we can confront the hazardous present and envision ourselves in the future? Drawing on Afrofuturism, anticolonial perspectives, and political ecology, this interdisciplinary study seeks to develop alternative futures based on ancestral knowledge and collective memory, proposing strategies for resistance against racial capitalism.
