Sachiko Osawa

Sachiko Osawa is the co-founder and Executive Director of Chabudai Gaeshi Joshi Action, a grassroots campaign organization based in Tokyo empowering women to take action against gender inequality. She was one of the lead organizers of a national campaign that successfully advocated for a change in the Criminal Code for sex crimes of Japan for the first time in 110 years. She is currently developing sexual violence prevention programs such as consent workshops and bystander intervention trainings and working together with university students and university staff members to institutionalize initiatives to prevent sexual assault on campus. Prior to her work on issues of sexual violence and women’s empowerment, she worked as a strategy consultant with various non-profits and social businesses operating in Asia and Africa.
